A video introduction using illustrations, personal stories, metaphors, or active learning examples to begin the discussion.
After the video, prompts are supplied for thinking and sharing with others personal perception and experience. This opening activity prompts participants to think about and relate to the topic, and to share with others.
What is the most disruptive moment you’ve experienced or could imagine experiencing in your own life?
For each of the unexpected events below, write a one-word response that comes to your mind. This word could reflect your emotion, reaction, or instinctive response to the situation.
Turnaround Moments
The Bible discussion begins with a careful reading of the whole passage, either from your own Bibles, or from the provided images below.
Then participants are to ask:
In Mark 14:53-65, Jesus stands as the calm center in a storm of fear, deceit, and chaos. While the religious leaders twist truth to fit their agenda and Peter crumbles under pressure, Jesus remains steady—composed, silent, and full of quiet strength.
The disciples scatter in confusion, and Peter, torn between fear and love, denies the very One he had promised to follow. Yet Jesus doesn’t flinch. As Isaiah 53:7 says, “He was oppressed and afflicted, yet he did not open his mouth”—truth doesn’t shout, it stands. Even when everything falls apart, Jesus does not.
Anchored in His identity and purpose, He shows us that peace isn’t the absence of trouble, but the presence of God. “In this world you will have trouble,” Jesus said, “but take heart! I have overcome the world” (John 16:33). And in the face of overwhelming opposition, we are reminded of Exodus 14:14: “The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still.” What might it look like to live with that same stillness and strength?
A parting video clip with a personal invitation to apply the message to “knowing Christ” and “living in Christ” in the coming week.
