Overview
In spite of being selected by God and being given a new heart, Saul chose repeatedly to put himself first. Instead of consistently obeying God’s instructions, Saul self-destructed by obsessing over David. He showed a deterioration of mental and emotional health that eventually led to a desperate consultation with Satanic forces and Saul’s demise. Saul became a role model for what not to do. His sad degeneration provides ample evidence for us to benefit by living differently.
